Located on North Range Road which traverses the crest of the Tararua Ranges is a radio repeater station managed by the Manawatū Amateur Radio Society, Branch 20. On this site they have a webcam which provides a view of the ranges and city of Palmerston North.
Amateur (ham) radio is a non-commercial hobby and communication service. Licensed operators use designated radio frequencies to talk locally and globally without using the internet or cell networks. It is vital for emergency response.
